Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
