Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
